Detection of putative loci affecting milk production and composition, health, and type traits in a United States Holstein population.

چکیده
Quantitative trait loci affecting milk yield and composition, health, and type traits were studied for seven large grandsire families of US Holstein using the granddaughter design. The families were genotyped at 20 microsatellite markers on 15 chromosomes, and the effects of the marker alleles were analyzed for 28 traits (21 type traits, 5 milk yield and composition traits, somatic cell score, and productive herd life). Markers BM415 on chromosome 6 and BM6425 on chromosome 14 were associated with effects on protein percentage in a single grandsire family. The latter marker had a lower probability of being associated with changes in milk yield and fat percentage in the same family. Increases in productive herd life were associated with an allele at marker BM719 on chromosome 16 in one grandsire family.

Detection of putative loci affecting milk, health, and type traits in a US Holstein population using 70 microsatellite markers in a genome scan.
Quantitative trait loci affecting milk yield, health, and type traits were studied for seven large U.S. Holstein grandsire families using the granddaughter design. Seventy microsatellite markers located throughout the genome were selected for the quantitative trait loci scan. Effects of marker alleles were analyzed for 30 traits (21 type traits, 5 milk traits, 2 calving ease triats, and somatic...
متن کاملQuantitative Trait Loci Affecting Milk Production Traits on BTA 14 in Iranian Holstein Dairy Cattle: A Confirmation
The aim of this study was to refine the position of previously detected quantitative trait loci (QTL) on bovine chromosome 14 affecting milk production traits, using both linkage analysis (LA) and combined disequilibrium and linkage analysis (LDLA) methods, in Iranian Holstein dairy cattle. Analysis data was LRT (likelihood ratio test) and computed using the DMU (estimate the (co)variance compo...

Putative quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting conformation traits in Holsteins have been detected using genotypic data generated by two research groups. Each research group conducted an independent genome scan in a select group of Holstein grandsire families. Six families were used by both groups and genotyped for 367 microsatellite markers in order to identify QTL affecting milk production ...
متن کاملThe number of loci that affect milk production traits in dairy cattle.
We have used the results of an experiment mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting milk yield and composition to estimate the total number of QTL affecting these traits. We did this by estimating the number of segregating QTL within a half-sib daughter design using logic similar to that used to estimate the "false discovery rate" (FDR). In a half-sib daughter design with six sire familie...
متن کاملDetection of quantitative trait loci affecting milk production, health, and reproductive traits in Holstein cattle.
We report putative quantitative trait loci affecting female fertility and milk production traits using the merged data from two research groups that conducted independent genome scans in Dairy Bull DNA Repository grandsire families to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting economically important traits. Six families used by both groups had been genotyped for 367 microsatellite markers...
